MCT-Transcoding Rate Adaptation Unit Solution

The very last part of a BSS which is quit close to MSC is called TRAU. The main duty of this unit is to do the necessary rate adaptations. The TRAU or the Transcoding Rate Adaptation Unit adapts the transmission speed of digital voice or data traffic on the radio link to the standard 64 kbps speed of conventional Networks. MCT-TRAU is completely programmable via OMC link. Thanks to the software download technology, which has made a pure path for future trends of rate adaptations, which has given MCT-TRAU a powerful backbone to come up with all future requirements.

The TRAU, also known as a Transcoding unit (TRCM) is a compresser and converter. It compresses the voice or data traffic coming from the mobile stations through the base station controller.
